Our Story
How We Met
Our story began on July 4th, 2021, with a first date walking around Sognsvann. Dag found Onily kind, funny, and cute, but also a bit contemplating and distant - hard to read at first. Meanwhile, Onily had watched too many crime series and was questioning the wisdom of forest walks with strangers! Despite that, when she first saw Dag doing yoga while waiting for her - very composed and calm - she decided to stay.
We had lunch, enjoyed the beautiful weather, good company, and great conversations. The first date lasted a long time - clearly something was working! Over the next 4-5 years, we've built a life together, including buying a house and making it our home.
The Proposal
On July 23rd, 2025, at 13:22, Dag proposed to Onily at Sulkja waterfall in Oldedalen by Oldevatnet. The proposal was partly planned together - certain details had to be just so, especially the ring style. We had planned a holiday around Norway, rented a beautiful Airbnb, booked a mountain top restaurant, and arranged a kayaking trip on Oldevatnet, so Dag's plan was to propose somewhere during that trip. The time and place for the proposal was planned by Dag.
The waterfall ended up being the perfect spot, though Dag had a hard time convincing Onily to walk all the way there - she couldn't understand why he was so insistent! At least that part was a surprise. It was a wet experience - at the bottom of the waterfall there are strong winds and water droplets in the air - but it was very hot that day, so it felt wonderful. Dag filmed the proposal, with the water from the waterfall landing on the camera lens giving a filter effect. It was perfect anyway.
